The City of San Benito has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024.

The Certificate of Achievement represents the highest level of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. An independent panel reviewed the City’s report and determined it met the program’s rigorous standards, including clearly communicating financial information and demonstrating full disclosure.

“This award reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible financial management,” city officials said.

During this week’s City Commission meeting, Mayor Ricardo Guerra and the San Benito City Commission formally recognized the City’s Finance Department for its work on the report. City Manager Fred Sandoval also commended the department for its dedication and for earning the award for several consecutive years.

The Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada and promotes excellence in public financial management.
