As the Mayor of San Benito, it is my honor to share with each of you the good news that our beloved city continues on a path of growth, financial strength and accountability, unity, and moral and ethical stability.
During my lifetime, I have had the honor to serve the public as a firefighter, City Commissioner, and Mayor. To me, family is everything.I approach every single day ready to make decisions for you as I would for my own blood. We are all family.
As Mayor, every day is exciting as we deliberate over new opportunities that will result in more jobs, new subdivisions, new businesses, new restaurants, and new ideas. Being a leader also comes with challenges. For instance, witnessing an unfinished Resaca Village for years was not what was bargained for. It was our obligation to put each of you first and place our faith in the judicial system.
We recently learned that our city’s depository bank, Texas Regional Bank, recorded a lien of over $3.4 million on our Resaca Village property. Neither our City Commission nor the board of directors of our economic development corporation voted for this. We have filed a lawsuit to protect our city.
When I was sworn in to serve San Benito, I promised to lead our city for the better. I am confident that we have taken on the tough
issues to improve the quality of life for your families. Our San Benito is culturally rich, vibrant, and deep in history. Now, we will blend our beloved city’s significant and eventful past with sound, accountable business and development practices. We will stand for you and your families, and fight against self-interests and special interests.
I serve each and every one of you with the utmost gratitude, and I look forward to continuing to be your Mayor for many years to come.
